Train Ride

13 05 2009

I’ve been carrying my camera with me more and more these days, trying to find out what interests me behind a lens besides war zones. As I was taking a ride on the subway back from work I saw this lady in the subway car next to mine and i thought the framing of it came out well. Tomorrow I’ll upload another entry I submitted for this year’s Eddie Adams Workshop.

Almost done with all these applications and submissions. Good news though, I found out on Friday I was accepted as one of 25 military photographers to attend a workshop in DC this June. That’s a bit of confidence as I finalize my package for this next workshop. I’ve got the 20 photos uploaded, but don’t want to hit the submit button now. I’ll give it one more look in the morning and then hit GO.

I’ve got to say that the worst thing about this is I realize more and more that my passion for this art is in news photography, something about on-site real world events gets me going. I don’t know what path I can follow photography and be both happy and state-side. Well, at least I have a few more obligated years to the man before I have to venture out on my own. Hopefully by then I’ll have accumulated a nice list of workshops/contacts/classes to compliment my assignments and that should help see how this whole thing plays out.

Acceptance letters for this last workshop don’t go out until July so I’ll probably forget I entered it just in time to worry again about the acceptance.

Until next time, enjoy one of my submission for the Eddie Adam Workshop.
